Dan Gavan is a furniture and lighting designer based in Bethnal Green, East London who’s work results in instantly recognisable silhouettes, simple but unique in appearance, made with outstanding, locally sourced timbers.
Through his work within London’s high-end interior design industry, Dan has developed a refined design sensibility of his own, combining architectural lines and traditional materials with a consciousness of tonality. This collection of attributes results in furniture and lighting pieces that are both bold and stand alone whilst never appearing ostentatious.

“I’ve been a lover of good design from a young age. For me it’s about an individual engages with an object and how it sits within its environment. A great combination of form, texture, and materials enables a single piece to transform a space from ordinary to outstanding. With my lamps in particular I like to experiment with how shadow is cast, there’s beauty in the way light and darkness fall, it creates a warmth.”
“It’s a privilege to work with beautiful materials and they’re all sourced from within East London. My timber supplier for example only stocks wood that would have otherwise been chipped by local authorities and so ensures a renewed purpose for these wonderful trees.”
